Long Day...
I started back at work today, and man it was a long day. work wasn't the issue, it's a much longer story than that. It started out with me waking up early to make sure I was out of the bathroom by 8:15 (to coincide with a bathroom schedule Justin and I worked out since we both have to be at work at 9 am). I wanted to shave so I figured I would give myself enough time to take care of the three manly bathroom S's (S*it, Shower, Shave), turns out it was more than enough time and I actually had about an hour to sit around before leaving for work. I updated my iPod, ate a banana, stared at a root beer can for a while and then put it back in the fridge, checked emails since I didn't want to bring my laptop to work with me, and then left for work. See this is long already... Skipping to later.
I was suppose to have "orientation" at 9:30am, basically to fill out the same paperwork I've filled out about twice before. I stopped what I was working on and walked over to the main building but there was no one at HR yet. I didn't want to waste time waiting and went back to kick some more of my works butt. I was later told that I was suppose to go back at 2 with another guy who started today and kept on working. lets fast forward some more now...
walked to campos (a mexican place if ya couldn't tell by the name) for lunch with some of the work crew. on the way I realized that I had missed a call from woman from HR, who said to come by after 11, and it was already 1:16... And I was suppose to have orientation at 2! We got our lunch to go and walked back to the office. When we opened our food, I saw that they did not give me my taco! That was fine though because at this point I only have about 10 minutes or so to eat my lunch. Enchilada and rice were finished, I found the other guy who was suppose to go with me and he said that he had already gone. So I was out the door again, heading to the main building to find her... gone... again. On my walk back I called her and asked her to call me back whenever she gets back in the office and I can be there shortly after. I got back to the office finished the beans from my lunch plate, and got back to work. Shortly after I got a call from HR and was back out to sign some papers. Third time's the charm, so now I'm back in the system, and got somewhat of a workout during my work day.
The rest of the day went on as normal besides freak wind storms that knock over toys and throw papers everywhere in the house. Some insight into this issue: We try to make our house like a giant wind tunnel so we do not have to use the AC. It works for the most, part except for wind gusts that slam doors and shake windows, lamps, and blinds. Or maybe it's ghostly apparitions that enjoyed our pumpkins that have been baking in the sun.
Maybe, but I still miss my taco...

Pumpkin Carving!
Today we carved pumpkins. I don't remember the last time I carved a pumpkin. It has definitely been a while. here's pictures of my pumpkin...

I may work a bit more on it. He has a removable tooth, it can be placed however between his upper right teeth (our left). It looks funny during daytime but with the candles it looks pretty goofy. For not carving a pumpkin for years I am pretty happy with it.

It's all in the context...
I had two interesting context incidents yesterday. They both happened within 5 minutes of each no less. The first was while Justin and I were trying to find a parking spot. An older woman and a child were walking in front of us and we waited as they walked. Justin and I were in the middle of some conversation and I remember saying something like, "I'm not going to bitch and moan about it." the woman turned towards me glaring. I suppose she heard me say "Bitch" and thought I meant it towards her. I laughed it off as merely coincidence, because who knows why she actually turned.
the second incident was something that I heard and had no idea what context to put it in. A mother and daughter were walking out of the grocery store. It appeared to me that the girl was telling her mother a story of some kind, the mother didn't look like she was paying too much attention to her child and I heard the girl say this, "I had ray guns coming out of my butt." I looked right at Justin and he looked right at me to make sure we both heard it properly. I have no idea what that little girl was talking about, but it made me laugh all the way to the vegetables where I was distracted by the pumpkins.

Why we need the "Abby Proof" table back
we originally had a dresser that we used as a table in our living room. We called it the "Abby Proof" table, because it was tall enough that Justin's dog Abby's tail wouldn't reach the top of it with ease. She is a big tail-wagger so we didn't have to watch our cups every time she would come into the living room. We moved it and put our old coffee table back in when our living room was the set of a short film that the Aslander crew shot many months ago. We still have not replaced the coffee table with the "Abby Proof" table. We have been eating shelled peanuts recently and had a Tupperware bowl full of shells and pieces. One whack of Abby's notorious tail and it is all over the floor. Not a great thing to deal with early in the am.
We often talk about moving the AP Table back, say we'll do it later, then don't. Whether we forget or not want to move all the junk off of the table I am not sure, probably a bit of both. I know the guys like having their laptops on the coffee table because then they can see the tv and their monitors clearly at the same time. We multi-task in this house!

Lack of mobility
I woke up this morning at about 6 or so in the am. When I woke up I realized I couldn't move. This wasn't the normal awkwardness of arms that are numb and asleep, but something else entirely. I realized soon enough the issue.
I had added my sleeping bag to my normal bed sheets to keep me warmer through the night and somehow through my tossing and turning had gotten myself wrapped up like a cocoon. As soon as I was able to figure out this ordeal I wiggled myself free and then went back to sleep as if nothing happened.
At least my arm wasn't asleep and didn't get smacked into the wall like I am use to. that is just plain annoying.

Chin Napkin Conversation Starters...
It's been a long morning already. I had an eye appointment this morning, and showed up about 10:50 for an 11 am appointment. when the receptionist walked me back to the office she asked me, "Did you lost weight, or is it the beard?" Now I never thought my goatee was slimming , I also don't think I've lost any weight, but I did shave off the excess facial hair the other day so I went with the beard answer. Then I found out my eyes have healed from their warped rigid gas permeable state, which is awesome. This whole thing took only a few minutes, so as always it felt like a huge waste of my time.
I then walked across the parking lot past some stores to the grocery store to pick up some bread and orange juice. When I was checking out, the black cashier woman at the register, with a wave over her face asked me, "Did you dye you that that color?" Before I answered she corrected herself after realizing that it was in fact not dyed at all. I think then she mumbled something about how no one would want to dye hair that mix of colors in that way. She did it in a joking manner so I just smiled and walked away. As I walked away she was laughing about my goatee color with the older black woman behind me. I walked back to my car and it was only 11:23. at least my eyes are better, and I now have bread.
I wonder if anyone else will try to make conversation with me over my facial hair today...

Govt is after me...
Is it normal to start feeling worried and extra paranoid when you start receiving multiple life insurance offers in the mail. Once, not so bad, but any more than two and I start to wonder...

Been a while...
Nature Stinks
A few weeks ago we noticed a cocoon hanging off of our back patio. we kept watch over it but could not notice any form of change in a long time.
Then the day after the two days of rain that we had in california it finally looked like it hatched. It was laying on the ground and justin helped it into the plant above.
We don't think it is going to make it. We think that maybe the rain screwed up it's inner pressure, moisture, something or other. way to go mother nature. killing off more of the nicer things in the world...-eD

Screams from upstairs...
I've learned that it is not surprising anymore to people when they hear screams coming from my room or justin's room. we do watch a lot of horror movies... But still a person should expect at least a look around to see if anyone else heard the scream.

"100 Questions"
On Thursday Leah, Ben, Javier and I went to a live taping of the new NBC Show 100 Questions. We were actually there for the filming of the Pilot episode. I believe it is going to air sometime in near future. The show itself seems like it will be pretty funny. 3 girl 2 guys = group of friends, all seem to be on different tiers of the dating spectrum. Seems similar to How I Met Your Mother with the intros of the "future viewing present" and then the episode is of a flashback of the "here and now present". In this show the intros are of her going into a matchmaking service where through a series of 100 questions they will be able to find her a match. Then a question is asked and it starts her off on a back in the day flashback where she can answer the question after reliving a part of her past. I'm not sure how well it will do over-all but I laughed a lot, and less than a majority of those laughs were forced for the laugh track. It was awesome except for a horrible crowd entertainer. He claims he was a stand-up comic, but he was awwwwwful. He was racist and just not funny at all. I gave him pity laughs in hopes he would give me some free stuff but we were too far in the back for him to reach his arm out and give us the prizes. We were there from 6pm to about 11:30 or so. We also almost left so many times just so we wouldn't have to listen to the crowd guy. There was also another part that was before the very last scene they were going to shoot, when the actors just started eating Chinese food. We were getting angry because we thought that they were having a dinner break before finishing while making us sit in the audience and wait for them to finish eating, not to mention the fact we were already there for hours and were hungry as well. Then we realized that they were just setting up for the next scene, and the actors were just taking that opportunity to stuff their faces. We stayed till the very end because we wanted to see the curtain call thing at the end, and didn't want to show disrespect for the show actors, for our disgust at the crowd guy.

Wed Griffith Observatory
on Wednesday Leah, Gen, and I went to Griffith Observatory to see the Hollywood sign from afar, check out the lil museum for telescopes, and watch the sun set behind the mountains. It was pretty cool. The strangest thing about Griffith Park was the fact that tehy had signs all over the place saying "No smoking anywhere in the park", however the signs were attached to trash cans with ash trays in the top. very strange...
I thought it was pretty funny.
