Update from pa
My flights home weren't too bad. During the flight from LA to DC when the flight attendant was going through the normal safety check, whenever he got to the air thing-a-ma-jig as he pulled it over his head and went to pull the hose to "open the airway" the piece broke off. He chuckled and said "I broke it" which made me feel even less safe than before.
Then on my flight from DC to Pittsburgh I got to sit in row 13 (aka row 14). But the most annoying thing was the flight attendant who spoke broken English who hassled me on take off and landing about having all things with an "on" switch turned off. I didn't even have anything electronic out and visible but she asked me multiple times if everything I had was off. Every time she asked me I said everything was off, but she kept asking me as if I was lying to her. I was slightly offended. Even the middle aged man sitting next to me was surprised at how she was acting about the whole situation.
It was nice to get back to pa, the weather wasn't so cold at first, but by Saturday it was quite cold, and has stayed frosty. It is interesting to drive in pa again though. I get to use my brights when driving at night, people know how to drive in the rain, though I do have to pay attention to speed limits much more because the roads don't always have other cars to pace off of like in LA. Movies are about half the price too which is awesome for everyone here. That and the specials that they offer like buckets of popcorn that you can bring back all year and just pay a few dollars to refill them. Pretty awesome stuff.
I also finally got into reading the comic Invincible, which is amazing. I've only gotten through about 15 issues but it is quickly becoming a favorite. I think I'll get back to reading those.
Merry X-Mas!

"Nostalgia" update - Primer, Outlines, & Away We Go...
Spent some time in the Paint Studio the last few days, prob going back in tonight to add in the grays, the red, and possibly the black. Then tomorrow I should be able to apply some finishing touches for 2011. I may come back to it and fix/adjust some things.

A matter of time...
It was a rainy day in LA today, started wet, rained, continued raining and luckily the rain stopped before the walk back to the car after work. For lunch we walked in the rain to get to a burger place not too far away. while waiting to cross the street at the intersection I saw a large truck and realized what was about to happen. I knew there was no time to turn or shield myself so I closed my mouth and eyes as tight as I could when the truck past us and sprayed street gutter water all over us. Not quite a wave of water, but we were definitely in the splash zone. It was funny but very gross. I knew it would happen to me eventually, hopefully now my quota is filled so I don't have to experience it again...

Artsy Update
Haven't made it into the garage/studio much this weekend but I did get a lot of artsy stuff accomplished. I cut the stencils for the skull for my first piece and I even worked up the vectors and stencil for my 2nd piece. But enough rambling I'll just show you some pics and explain it all that way...

Whoops
It sounds like I accidentally had a hand in getting my roommate addicted to caffeine (like most Americans). We work together and every morning I start my day by getting coffee at work before I go to my desk and start the day. After a while he started to make it his routine to get cappuccinos in the morning when I got my coffee. As anyone who starts drinking cappuccino's because they don't like the taste of coffee will know, it is the gateway caffeine drink. I believe this because of it's lower levels of caffeine and it's downright tasteyness (I know it's not a word). Then once you feel like you "need" the caffeine to function properly they will graduate to actual coffee, and then quite possibly the dreaded espresso. Anyhow during the last week he was complaining about headaches in the morning. It started last weekend I think and I just jokingly said he was going through caffeine withdrawal and to drink something caffeinated (because I know it sometimes helps me). Turns out it worked, then whenever he would get a headache the next day the caffeine helped again. But even though he now knows this he still continues with his cappuccino's in the morning. Now he join the masses of the caffeine addicted...

Gross-ness
When I see someone has left a drink in a public bathroom it takes tons of willpower for me not spit into it. It's gross, I know, but so is bringing something that you would drink/eat into a bathroom of any kind let alone a public restroom. it disturbs me that someone would submit something that they will imbibe to all of that poo gas. As long as you wash your hands right?

Humble Mumble
I know I don't talk much about work on this, but that's because there's barely humor at work. I'm usually just too busy to let my mind wander about the randomness that goes on in my head. I've been pushing myself at work to be as efficient as possible. I don't let myself wander around on the internet very much, which it could be said it's because I don't want people to see me on the internet, or because I am that dedicated to my work while at work. I prefer the latter, if anyone asks... Every once in a while I get complimented on something that I didn't think twice about doing and just smile, say thanks and get back to work. Today the project lead and I got pulled into the directors office and we were introduced to the owner of the company. Then the producer and director talked about how great we were and how much we helped out on the project. I think it was the first time I blushed in years but I'm not sure. I felt myself about to do the "aww shucks" foot twist while looking at the floor but I stayed in the game. Then afterwords I got another acknowledgment of always being on top of things and not wasting time on the internet like other people are doing (I guess). It looks nice when people walk past and see us toiling away, especially when there's tours.
If anyone comes to LA I could help them up with a tour...
Oh crap, I almost forgot...
I saw a bird fly into the window one window away from where I sit. It was plain crazy. I usually catch things going past the window in my peripheral vision but I hardly check it out. This time I did. I saw a light brown blur comin... "Boom!" Then it drops at an angle and in a blur rights itself and swoops away to safety.
I don't know why I didn't text that here. Whoops...

P.S. Saw some guy from the Steve Blake from the Lakers yesterday at Carl's Jr while at lunch. He just looked like a gangly gym guy in his work out clothes to me, then some woman asked for his autograph and I figured only a basketball or maybe baseball player could be that lanky. I don't mean to insult but that's the best way I could describe him. Didn't feel like looking up his stats...
and now it all comes back to me. heh...
and that is the end of this R.A.P.!

More Vector fun before TV time on the projector!
-eD
On Thursday I finished the DVD set of Chop Socky Chooks cartoons while exercising. Now I move onto some Fanboy & Chum Chum. I like watching cartoons, so it helps me think less of my straining muscles. Friday my roommate Ben got all the pieces for his new projector setup for the living room and installed it. It is quite the sight I must say. I am going to get so snobby with movie viewing now.

Thursday (Thanksgiving) I used my airbrush to give it more of an aged look.
Kicked back for most of Thanksgiving. Did some cleaning minor paint work, some drawing, watched some movies, read some comics it was nice. Then Friday was our Black Friday Thanksgiving which went really well. For dinner we had 13 people I think, and for games we had 9. I started off with some Wild Turkey thinking it fitting for the occasion. The food was great, I think it was the best Turkey day we have had at the house food-wise. After dinner we played a 9 person game of Loaded Questions which we could only handle two rounds of with Les being in the lead by far. Our numbers dwindles again a bit and we sat down to watch Pirates 4, which I think only two people were able to stay awake through, and I don't even have any interest to try watching it again. Saturday was recovery day, a lot more lounging, comics, drawing and movies. Even went out to see the Muppets Movie, which was awesome. I really need to get back into spending time with my muppet, he seems lonely, but it's not easy being green...

Spam n Such
I just cleaned out my spam folder and had an email that said, "Hey Bubonik"... It was kind of surreal. I think I should start setting up user names that are more awesome, like "Master of Disaster" or "King of All He Surveys" so I can get more blanket emails that make me laugh while I delete them...
Also: Happy Thanksgiving All! I will be celebrating tomorrow on Black Friday, as a way to silently protest riot-like shopping frenzies, and I guess also because some friends weren't free today. Gives me a Saturday feeling before our binge eating day. Then another Saturday feeling, then sadly a Sunday feeling...
Better enjoy it while I can. I believe mixed drinks and painting are in my future for the day, maybe some hammock time if it's dry enough. Some things I suppose I'm thankful for...

Mixed Media Project Started Back Up Finally...
I've had this in the works for over 6 months. Pages cut and planned but I didn't take the initiative needed or have the space needed in the garage for it so it sat on the back-burner like most of my projects. But today considering it was raining and I couldn't enjoy my hammock like I originally planned I started it up.
I have some mild work through the week planned prepping the board for more work and "aging" it a bit more, then more time consuming work during my 4 day Thanksgiving weekend...

Garage Re-Organize
I didn't take any pictures after the garage was emptied and redone. That was mainly because I just wanted to get all the stuff back in there, and when it was just the lone fridge sitting in the middle of the garage it wasn't very photo-worthy. After a while of having all the garage stuff in the back of the living room waiting for the go-ahead to put it back in the garage, I was tired of having it in the living room and I moved it back in the garage but in the center so the workers could finish whatever work was still being done. It seemed like they were finished and enough time had past and we hadn't heard from anyone, so I decided I would start organizing this weekend. And I did...
-eD
This is where I finished. It was dark out, and I couldn't find a broom so I thought it was as good a place as any to stop. I wanted to sweep up before I starting putting anything away on the ground and moving things into what will most likely be their place for the foreseeable future.
My W.I.P. art studio. I have big plans for a lot of things now that the garage is ours again! Les is even talking about setting up an art station in the garage for mold making. That could push this house's creativity to an all new high. But I don't want to get ahead of myself. On the way home from work picked up extension cords, a broom and dust pan for the garage, and a mop for inside. I plan on doing some more cleaning this week, and then finish this bad boy off over the weekend. More pics to follow once it's all ready to show...-eD

The Spare room.
At least it was how it looked like. now I have a different chair in there (instead of the two foldables) and a guitar stand for when I want to put down my bass for a few minutes without putting it to bed back in the case. Guess instead of explaining all that I could just take a more recent picture but it's all the way downstairs...

Trippy Start to a Day...
While walking into work today I accidentally kick the curb mid-stride and tripped myself. I had one hand in my hoodie pocket and the other was holding a water bottle so immediately realized i had no hands to protect my fall. Luckily I just staggered forward a few feet while throwing my elbows around. Anyone behind me just saw a loon for a few steps who showed a few inches of bare skin back and most likely an inch or so of boxers. I laughed the rest of the way across the street. What a way to start a Friday... at least it woke me up more than my morning coffee usually does...

Recap
Haven't posted in days so let me give a little recap. The weekend finished off bitter sweet. On Saturday right before the Stan Sakai exhibit my "new" sunglasses broke, the ones I was so excited about with the hatchet man on the sides. They cracked right above the lens. Makes me believe I should never spend more than $10 on a pair of shades...
Then I found out that all Saturday and Sunday tickets to the Tim Burton show were sold out. I never thought that you would need to order tickets for a museum show. They only had tickets for between Sunday and Monday from about midnight to 9 am or so, and since I had to work Monday I decided against the super last minute late night museum trip.
On Saturday I stopped @ the grocery store to pick up a pumpkin for some last minute carving but they stopped selling pumpkins 2 days before Halloween... Lame.
But on a positive note the roommate we've been trying to get rid of for almost 2 months finally left. The waste of space and big ball of negative energy is finally gone. It still hasn't totally sunk in. Hopefully this weekend after we clean the house top to bottom and start to invite people over again should help.
Trick or treating went well. Almost 2 bags of candy gone. But we didn't decorate so even though we were sitting in the driveway with candy near the sidewalk some kids just walked right past. Kids gotta be thorough. Check every house for the possibility of free candy. Don't be lazy and just go to the decorative houses. Jeeze Louise.
Oh and last night I shaved off my Halloween beard finally. Now I'm back to stache and goat, at least for a bit. I also trimmed my nose hair destroying evolutions efforts to keep harmful things out of my nostrils for the sole purpose of not havin any bits of hair trying to escape from my nose. Strange.

Halloween Costume...
This was the first year where I broke my "don't repeat the same costume twice in one year". I wasn't confident in my second costume, I didn't put the time into it that I wanted to, so it will have to hold and maybe get added to by half price Halloween costume pieces from the seasonal stores. But I figured since the first time I tried the costume I won a costume contest, I figured it was worthy to do again this past weekend. Anyhoo here's some pics from the last two costumes...
scissors for cutting inches off of my goatee and trimming it in the mirror to make it match the length of my beard. Then eyeliner, cheap black lipstick, and tons of clown paint...
I went as Captain Spaulding from the movies "House of 1000 Corpses" and "the Devil's Rejects". I think the paint turned out better the first time, but I don't have any pictures really. I was in a rush after the first party that I came home put on the costume & paint, and ran out the door. Not only forgetting to take any pictures, but also forgetting my camera. There are some pictures from other people at the party. But in LA it's all about who you know, and I don't know the people with the pictures.
forgot to paint the red circles on the cheeks this time around. I was in a rush again and didn't want to keep the guys waiting, and I was excited for the Sat before Halloween! I remembered first time I looked in the mirror once I got to the party. It made me sad but no one seemed to notice and everyone liked my costume.
We were suppose to stop at the party for a bit where I hardly knew anyone and the people that I knew there hardly knew anyone. Then we were planning on going downtown to see the people who go crazy with costumes and makes spectacles of themselves, but we never made it...
You could write on the mirrors with dry erase markers. So of course I did...
Left the party around 3 am, after having had the paint on since about 8pm. You can tell it started to wear off around my eyes and lips. It was a fun Halloween season and I still get to hand out candy to children tomorrow after work!

Bathroom Fun
Bought some fake poo on the Internet. It was like $2 so I figured it was well worth a laugh or two. I've had it in the bathroom on top of the commode for a few days now and my roommate les, that I share a bathroom with, has not said anything about it.
I figured he would have said something. I mean it doesn't look too natural.
Maybe he just doesn't want to give me the satisfaction...

SUPERFAST Trolley Tour of (some of) San Diego!
These next videos show (in a very sped up fashion) my trip to and from comic-con 2011 via trolley. The Music is two remixes of the song "momentet" by Danish rapper L.O.C. I couldn't get this song out of my head during the con so I thought it only fitting to put both remixes to the sped up video.
This was my first attempt at super speeding up footage. Not sure what I think of it yet (WARNING: these videos may cause motion sickness!).
I think it's trippy to see some of the stuff wiggle because of how it interpretted the mash-up of frames. The first one going to the con had an original footage length of 21 minutes and leaving the con, and leaving the con had an original length of 35 minutes. I'm in no way saying that this is in any way good editing or even a good idea, I just wanted to do it to see what it would look like. Curiosity sated...

Ghost Flower!
Dun Dunnn Dunnnnnnn Ghost Flower! A few months back we noticed a very large spider starting a web near your rain gutter in the back of the house. That was a windy weekend and I guess the spider gave up on his web but there were still tons of webs hanging around. One of them was strong enough to be able to hold an entire flower. I saw it swing in front of the upstairs office window while working and had to take a video of it.

Haven't Posted in a while.
Wow, I haven't realized how long it has been since my last post. I'm not sure if I've forgotten anything that I wanted to post for before even. But at least I can talk about this past week. I've had the week off of work because we are waiting for the client to approve us to start on the next part of cinematics because the scripts and storyboards haven't been finished yet and there is no reason to pay us to sit on your rumps and wait for the "go-ahead". Since I've been home I've been working on ideas for shorts and even planning a possible round 2 of the Hands project though some of the ideas are a lot more difficult it may be more of a once or twice a week posts. But first I wanted to figure out how many to do this go-around and what order to complete them for postings. I've also been catching up on some video projects that I've wanted to finish. Though one project is already in the eternal back burner because when I shot it the lighting was too different on the shots to meld them together. I've also reworked some scripts of things that I wanted to start. I know once certain things change in the next few weeks, I will be back to super-creative but since I don't talk about personal things that annoy me on here if they're not funny, I will keep it to myself but will most likely post a long ranting post once it is all over.
On Wednesday I went to see a free screener of the movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, which takes an interesting look at the fabled Hansel and Gretel who when grown up become witch hunters and travel hunting and killing witches. It was still a work in progress considered there were still shots that needed wire removal, final cg characters or items, and even some shots that had crash mattes when characters fell but it was still pretty good. Then afterwards we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for some beers and some wings. It was pretty fun to go out again. On Thursday we went to Venice and walked around for a bit, got nostalgic for being around Venice again and ate at the Sidewalk Cafe where we use to eat when we worked at Radical 3D, and then went to a few thrift shops and costume shops getting ideas and trying to find some costume ideas for Halloween. Not too much luck but I may be able to just rework what I have and not create a totally hand crafted mask, still questioning that aspect. well back to my random project catch up times before going back into work on Monday...

On Wednesday I went to see a free screener of the movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, which takes an interesting look at the fabled Hansel and Gretel who when grown up become witch hunters and travel hunting and killing witches. Stuffy...
Got a mild cold that has got me a bit stuffed up. Tried to use Mucinex DM but it was way too strong and made me downright loopy for a bit. Then after the 12 hours ran out I wasn't really thinking and drank a 40 while playing some video games after work. I was asleep by ten thirty. Then of course I woke up at about 2, and had trouble getting back to sleep. Not so good. Dayquil didn't seem to work either. But it's getting better and I know not to use Mucinex DM if I have to do anything important, even driving. Loopy!

5k
I signed up for a 5k run next October. It's been about what 11 or so years since I ran more than a mile at a time, but I have a year to get into shape for it.

A zombie run! How cool is that? It reminds me of the "Let's get Dirty" race @Slippery Rock. There are multiple races across the country. I am going to be running for my life in San Diego with 2 friends (only 2 right now that is). I'm pretty excited about it. And what better reason to get into shape then being chased by zombies!?!?

Lesbian Cops
On Sunday I was at the filming of the 5th finale epsiode of Lesbian Cops. Got up @530 (on a Sunday) tonhelp out my friend Dave which the shoot. I was a gun wielding henchman, or I could say, I was 3 gun wielding henchmen. Costume changes with masks and bandanas and I'm a new man! It was a lot of fun, two of my guys get shot and killed, one though makes it to the bitter end. We'll see if he comes back for season 2 or the movie even.
I even got to help with the boom mic a bit for some of the shots once all my henchmen wrapped. It was a lot of fun.
The trailer is on YouTube, Facebook, and funnyordie.com. Not sure when the first episode will drop, though it should be very soon. My episode comes out late October. I'm excited it looks good.

He has already learned how to pick his nose...

He even wears a hoodie for all his thuggish-ness to show.
