Update from pa
My flights home weren't too bad. During the flight from LA to DC when the flight attendant was going through the normal safety check, whenever he got to the air thing-a-ma-jig as he pulled it over his head and went to pull the hose to "open the airway" the piece broke off. He chuckled and said "I broke it" which made me feel even less safe than before.
Then on my flight from DC to Pittsburgh I got to sit in row 13 (aka row 14). But the most annoying thing was the flight attendant who spoke broken English who hassled me on take off and landing about having all things with an "on" switch turned off. I didn't even have anything electronic out and visible but she asked me multiple times if everything I had was off. Every time she asked me I said everything was off, but she kept asking me as if I was lying to her. I was slightly offended. Even the middle aged man sitting next to me was surprised at how she was acting about the whole situation.
It was nice to get back to pa, the weather wasn't so cold at first, but by Saturday it was quite cold, and has stayed frosty. It is interesting to drive in pa again though. I get to use my brights when driving at night, people know how to drive in the rain, though I do have to pay attention to speed limits much more because the roads don't always have other cars to pace off of like in LA. Movies are about half the price too which is awesome for everyone here. That and the specials that they offer like buckets of popcorn that you can bring back all year and just pay a few dollars to refill them. Pretty awesome stuff.
I also finally got into reading the comic Invincible, which is amazing. I've only gotten through about 15 issues but it is quickly becoming a favorite. I think I'll get back to reading those.
Merry X-Mas!

"Nostalgia" update - Primer, Outlines, & Away We Go...
Spent some time in the Paint Studio the last few days, prob going back in tonight to add in the grays, the red, and possibly the black. Then tomorrow I should be able to apply some finishing touches for 2011. I may come back to it and fix/adjust some things.

Primed the area. The glue from the collage didn't mix well with the primer and the stencil may not have been the greatest way to start this off with all of the previous textural layers...

Whoopsy Daisy
Attempted to meditate on some projects that I've been working on and ended up falling asleep for a few hours in the middle of the day. Felt pretty good though, I will admit. Back to work...

A matter of time...
It was a rainy day in LA today, started wet, rained, continued raining and luckily the rain stopped before the walk back to the car after work. For lunch we walked in the rain to get to a burger place not too far away. while waiting to cross the street at the intersection I saw a large truck and realized what was about to happen. I knew there was no time to turn or shield myself so I closed my mouth and eyes as tight as I could when the truck past us and sprayed street gutter water all over us. Not quite a wave of water, but we were definitely in the splash zone. It was funny but very gross. I knew it would happen to me eventually, hopefully now my quota is filled so I don't have to experience it again...

Artsy Update
Haven't made it into the garage/studio much this weekend but I did get a lot of artsy stuff accomplished. I cut the stencils for the skull for my first piece and I even worked up the vectors and stencil for my 2nd piece. But enough rambling I'll just show you some pics and explain it all that way...

Whoops
It sounds like I accidentally had a hand in getting my roommate addicted to caffeine (like most Americans). We work together and every morning I start my day by getting coffee at work before I go to my desk and start the day. After a while he started to make it his routine to get cappuccinos in the morning when I got my coffee. As anyone who starts drinking cappuccino's because they don't like the taste of coffee will know, it is the gateway caffeine drink. I believe this because of it's lower levels of caffeine and it's downright tasteyness (I know it's not a word). Then once you feel like you "need" the caffeine to function properly they will graduate to actual coffee, and then quite possibly the dreaded espresso. Anyhow during the last week he was complaining about headaches in the morning. It started last weekend I think and I just jokingly said he was going through caffeine withdrawal and to drink something caffeinated (because I know it sometimes helps me). Turns out it worked, then whenever he would get a headache the next day the caffeine helped again. But even though he now knows this he still continues with his cappuccino's in the morning. Now he join the masses of the caffeine addicted...

Rockband & def jap rapstar w/the projector is spectacular! Sang w/just the mic on expert & rocked some 90%s. all after goin out 2 bar w/some friends. Ended up playing till about 430 am, then couldn't sleep and slept in way too late this morning. Lost a decent part of my day, but my dreams wouldn't allow me the peace of mind to just stop them and start my day...

Gross-ness
When I see someone has left a drink in a public bathroom it takes tons of willpower for me not spit into it. It's gross, I know, but so is bringing something that you would drink/eat into a bathroom of any kind let alone a public restroom. it disturbs me that someone would submit something that they will imbibe to all of that poo gas. As long as you wash your hands right?

Humble Mumble
I know I don't talk much about work on this, but that's because there's barely humor at work. I'm usually just too busy to let my mind wander about the randomness that goes on in my head. I've been pushing myself at work to be as efficient as possible. I don't let myself wander around on the internet very much, which it could be said it's because I don't want people to see me on the internet, or because I am that dedicated to my work while at work. I prefer the latter, if anyone asks... Every once in a while I get complimented on something that I didn't think twice about doing and just smile, say thanks and get back to work. Today the project lead and I got pulled into the directors office and we were introduced to the owner of the company. Then the producer and director talked about how great we were and how much we helped out on the project. I think it was the first time I blushed in years but I'm not sure. I felt myself about to do the "aww shucks" foot twist while looking at the floor but I stayed in the game. Then afterwords I got another acknowledgment of always being on top of things and not wasting time on the internet like other people are doing (I guess). It looks nice when people walk past and see us toiling away, especially when there's tours.
If anyone comes to LA I could help them up with a tour...
Oh crap, I almost forgot...
I saw a bird fly into the window one window away from where I sit. It was plain crazy. I usually catch things going past the window in my peripheral vision but I hardly check it out. This time I did. I saw a light brown blur comin... "Boom!" Then it drops at an angle and in a blur rights itself and swoops away to safety.
I don't know why I didn't text that here. Whoops...

P.S. Saw some guy from the Steve Blake from the Lakers yesterday at Carl's Jr while at lunch. He just looked like a gangly gym guy in his work out clothes to me, then some woman asked for his autograph and I figured only a basketball or maybe baseball player could be that lanky. I don't mean to insult but that's the best way I could describe him. Didn't feel like looking up his stats...
and now it all comes back to me. heh...
and that is the end of this R.A.P.!

More Vector fun before TV time on the projector!
-eD
On Thursday I finished the DVD set of Chop Socky Chooks cartoons while exercising. Now I move onto some Fanboy & Chum Chum. I like watching cartoons, so it helps me think less of my straining muscles. Friday my roommate Ben got all the pieces for his new projector setup for the living room and installed it. It is quite the sight I must say. I am going to get so snobby with movie viewing now.

The "Normal" television was like 42in or so the projector screen is 100...

It was an easy decision what to watch first...
Now I have to get back into a few things and get enough done so I can at least start painting sometime during the week, if I can't get to it before our screening of Dexter tonight on the new projector. This is going to be awesome!
